We’re excited to announce some updates to our Learn-To-Skate curriculum this season:
New this season:
ASPIRE Academy is a new, fun class with an individualized approach for skaters who have passed Basic 6 who wish to further pursue figure skating. ASPIRE skaters will also have the option to purchase an introductory U.S. Figure Skating club membership with the Brooklyn Figure Skating Club.
The Aspire program marks the transition from skater to figure skater and teaches athletes of all ages the skills they need to make the most out of their figure skating journey. From tips for practicing on your own to a repeatable off-ice warm-up, resources from the Aspire program will help you become the best skater you can be.
Skaters will learn proper skill development and training techniques while sampling different skating opportunities and fine-tuning their fundamental skating skills.
ASPIRE Academy is ideal for skaters who are not yet members of the Brooklyn Figure Skating Club or working with a private coach, who are interested in getting more involved in figure skating.

The Axel curriculum will be incorporated into both the ASPIRE Academy AND the Power, Edges & Technique class.
The Axel is the first skating jump that requires more than one revolution and is the stepping stone to more complicated double jumps.
Achieving your first, fully-rotated Axel, is a big accomplishment!

Power, Edges & Technique
Power, Edges & Technique is an expanded version of our previous Power and Edges class.
The class, which is now one hour in length, will dedicate time each week to speed drills, edge control, proper body alignment, and will also work on perfecting technique on individual free skating elements such as jumps and spins.
This class is ideal for any skaters who have passed Free Skate 1 and above and are working on U.S. Figure Skating tests.
