2023 Ice show info

We’re excited to announce our 2023 Ice Show, “Brooklyn Goes Back to the 90s” will be held on Friday April 28 – Saturday April 29, 2023.

Please take the time to read all of the following guidelines.

The show is hosted by the City of Brooklyn/Brooklyn Blades on Ice Learn-To-Skate and is open to all members of the Brooklyn Blades on Ice Learn-To-Skate, Home Club and Associate Club Members (in good standing) of the Brooklyn Figure Skating Club, as well as staff instructors of Brooklyn Blades on Ice (and special guests by invitation only).

  • Skaters who are enrolled in Friday LTS class will have the opportunity to participate in an “ice show” class on Fridays to learn a group routine for the show (There will be 2 classes offered: one for Snow Plow/Basic Skills and one for Free Skate/ASPIRE). Registration fees can be paid upon registration for Session 4 (which begins on Friday, March 10).
  • Registration for Brooklyn Figure Skating Club members opens on Wednesday, Feb. 1
    • Solo or Duet ONLY: $45
    • Solo or Duet + Group: $75
  • Skaters may elect to perform one Solo OR one Duet (but not both, unless one of the duet partners elects not to skate a solo).
  • Skaters who choose to also skate in a group will be assigned to 2 groups: a smaller group and the closing number (larger group).  *If you only wish to do one group, please email us and let us know prior to rehearsals. Small groups will be assigned at the show directors’ discretion. Skaters will be responsible for costume purchases for each group routine (and we will do our best to keep costs at a minimum!)
  • Rehearsals are mandatory.  If you need to miss a rehearsal for a legitimate reason (work schedule, illness, competition conflict, etc.) – please let us know ahead of time, if possible.

Guidelines for Solos or Duets:

  • Skaters are free to choose their own music – HOWEVER – skaters must choose a song that was released during the 1990s! (You can also get creative and use songs that were made popular by TV shows or movies in the 1990s).  Need help making a choice? Let us know – your show directors know the 90s very well J
  • A sign-up sheet for music will be placed in the lobby once rehearsals begin.
  • Maximum program lengths will be based upon your highest USFS Free Skate test level as of March 1, 2023 and are as follows:
    • Non-tested through Preliminary, or Adult Bronze-Silver– 1:45 max
    • Pre-Juvenile through Intermediate – 2:15 max
    • Novice through Senior – 2:40 max
