Spring Swizzle NEWS & UPDATES!

We need spotlight operators!

Part of the magic of a Brooklyn show is our show lighting, but we need your help to pull it off!
Do you know someone who is available to run spotlights for dress rehearsal night and/or performance night?
Email us today!
(There are some perks to volunteering!)

Calling all Parent Volunteers!

To keep the show moving in an orderly fashion, we are in need of a few parent volunteers to help keep our backstage area quiet and running efficiently. Please email us if you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer for dress rehearsal and/or show night.

What’s your earliest memory on the ice?

Everyone starts skating by taking that first step.

And no matter what age you were, the ice was slippery and it probably seemed scary.

But soon, you learned that you could fly!

What are your best memories about learning to skate?

SHARE THEM with us and we will feature them in a poster in the rink! Please email your submissions by April 27!

We’ve extended the deadline for Spring Swizzle!

The deadline to register for Spring Swizzle (our end of the year skating show) has been extended for all Learn-To-Skate members!

Some of you are BRAND NEW to skating this session and we wanted to make sure you knew that EVERYONE is welcome to participate, regardless of your ability level!
Please have your forms turned in by SATURDAY MARCH 31!

Please email us with any questions!

You can find the registration forms and practice schedule HERE

Do you love to choreograph? Q4C applications are available!

Do you love to choreograph?

Are you a member of the Brooklyn Figure Skating Club planning to perform in Spring Swizzle?

Be sure to check out ‘Quest for Creativity!

Quest for Creativity (Q4C) was developed and created by Audrey Weisiger, a two-time Olympic team coach and U.S. Figure Skating top level national coach.

Q4C is an annual, one-time national creative opportunity for all choreographers to gain exposure and develop their craft.

It’s a great opportunity to develop your choreography skills!

There are two age groups for applicants (according to birthday on May 1, 2018) – Grassroots age 15 and under & Champions age 16 and up.

The cost to enter is $75. Applications are now available on the Young Artists Showcase site HERE

*Skaters are asked to choreograph their own routine (no help from your coach!),  record their performance and upload it to YouTube after submitting your application and entry fee. The only restriction is that routines cannot exceed 2:40 in length.

*The timing of this is perfect for our skaters, as the videos are uploaded during the month of May, so you can use your Spring Swizzle routine as your entry!

*Please see Elizabeth or email us at brooklynskating@gmail.com if you’re interested in participating – we can help you with the process!
